Thank you to all who came out to GT LINK's first screening. We had a great turn-out of about 70 people! It was amazing to see all who came out in spite of the tornado warning that evening and it being a Wednesday night. A special thanks to all our external guests who braved the rains and confusing parking at Tech to make it to our screening! Lastly, a big thank you to our wonderful members who really came through in preparation for the event and for working so hard during the event. It was all thanks to your efforts that our screening could go so smoothly and reach out to so many people. Members passed out fliers on Skiles from Thursday of the week before the screening until the day of the screening and also met up at night for chalking in front of SC and CULC. We had about 85% of our regular members attending and helping out with the screening whether by setting up or greeting. You guys are the best!
The Southeast Nomad team were awesome and so inspiring. Thanks Zane, Paloma and Jenna for rocking GT! We miss you guys already!
The screening itself consisted of introduction by the nomads, a screening of the Hiding: a beautifully-produced LiNK original documentary about LiNK's efforts to rescue and resettle North Korean refugees, and a Q&A session with the nomads. It was really great to see how many great questions the audience had for the nomads and how moved the audience was by The Hiding.
After the screening, a reception was held outside the Student Center Theater where the nomads were available to answer additional questions and to sell LiNK merchandise. GT LiNK also accepted donations at this time with those donating over a dollar receiving a GT LiNK cookie! Through generous donations, GT LiNK raised $92.50 that night. Thank you so much for everybody's support and generosity!
